WHO WE ARE

A LOCAL TEAM, NOT A CALL CENTRE

We live in Bishkek, we drive these roads every season, and we know which pass is still under snow in June.

OUR STORY

Go Kyrgyzstan started in 2014 with one minibus, two guides and a stubborn belief that the country deserved better than a checklist of viewpoints. The first season we ran four departures. Most of the people on them were friends of friends.

Twelve years later we run around a hundred departures a year, and the working method has not really changed. We drive every new route ourselves before it goes on sale. We stay with the same families in Kyzart and at Song-Kol, which is why they hold beds for us in August when everything is full.

We keep groups small because a jailoo with fourteen visitors is a visit and a jailoo with forty is a spectacle. It costs us margin and it is the single decision we are least willing to change.

HOW WE WORK

Four things we decided early and have not traded away since.

ROUTES WE HAVE DRIVEN

Nothing goes on sale until someone from the team has done the whole thing, in the same season, in the same vehicle.

MONEY THAT STAYS LOCAL

Guides, drivers, cooks and yurt families are paid directly and at rates set with them, not against them.

HONEST DAY PLANS

If a day is eight hours of driving we write eight hours of driving. Surprises belong in the landscape, not the schedule.

LIGHT ON THE PASTURE

Small groups, no single-use plastic in camp, and we carry out everything we carry in.

THE PEOPLE YOU WILL MEET

The team that plans your trip is the team that runs it.

TRAVELLER STORIES

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Reviews collected after every departure — the good, and the things we then fixed.

The pace was perfect. Long enough in each valley to actually feel it, and our guide translated far more than words — he explained why things are done the way they are.

Lena Bauer

Germany · Heart of Kyrgyzstan

Kel-Suu is genuinely remote and the team treated it that way: proper vehicles, spare fuel, a real plan for the weather. I never once felt improvised.

Tom Whitfield

United Kingdom · Kel-Suu Expedition

I slept in a yurt for three nights and would happily have stayed a week. The family we stayed with made us part of the evening, not an audience for it.

Sofia Marchetti

Italy · Song-Kol Nomad Life

Well organised and honest about what each day involves. The only thing I would change is asking for one more day at the lake.
